The MIT-WPU Robocon Team

We are Group of promising engineers from MIT-WPU. We work systematically for the International Robotics competition ABU Robocon. Students, from various branches of engineering, come together each year to participate in the National Robocon, which is currently in Pune. Read more about us here.

ABU Robocon

ABU Robocon is an International Robotic Competition, held annually in ABU member countries. The competition directly encourages the development of artificial intelligence, mechatronics and robotic technology as an engineering discipline. Also, it aims to cultivate innovation and creativity among future engineers.

The contest aims to create friendship among young people with similar interests, as well as help the advancement of engineering and technology in the region. The participating countries include several countries from the Asia-Pacific region, who are the members of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union. The national broadcasters of these member countries host the national competition in their country.

Each year, the host country releases the theme. It consists of a number of tasks, to be completed by one or more robots. The tasks are to be completed within specified time, according to the rules decided by that country. Each country selects one team to represent that country in the International Robocon competition. In India, the team is selected through a national level competition usually held in march, at Pune. To build the robots, students require a rich knowledge in programming, mechanical design and electronic circuit design.

Our Performance at Robocon over the years…

MIT-WPU Tech Team has been, and continues to be one of the leading teams at Robocon India. Among other achievements, we were the first team to use pneumatic pistons at Robocon India in the year 2011. Also, in the year 2013, we introduced holonomic drive systems for the first time. Other teams have extensively used these technologies in the following years at Robocon. In the year 2016, we were the only Indian Team to successfully complete the theme using complete automation. We are also the only Indian team to reach the 5th position at the International Robocon. This is the highest rank achieved by any Indian team. Our alumni have published research papers in reputed national and international journals. This showcases our technological strength and proves our consistent performance at Robocon.
